The world has gone strangely silent as of late. Like the bunnies have all scurried back to their warrens, afraid of the daylight dawning.

This morning, I woke to the sound of birds outside my window. It was before dawn, too early to be awake, but it was the first time this year I've heard them out that early. It reminded me of my father, and how I used to wake up when he would be going out for a hunt before dawn, the sound of his boots in the hallway and the sound of the birds outside my window. For the first time in a long time, I thought of him and smiled again.

Time heals all wounds, even the ones we thought were irreparable. Pain is replaced, inch by inch, with nostalgia -- bittersweet, sometimes, but a bit brighter every day.

033; woman on the verge. [11 May 2010 · 5:45pm]
Over the last decade, half of my lifetime, our world has become progressively darker. Families have been torn apart, Wizards have fought Wizards, and the rule of law has been overturned in favour of vigilantism. Our society can not function without a strong government who can make peace, can maintain order, and ensure that our culture thrives and continues for generations to come. Time after time, the Ministry of Magic has shown that it is unable to end suffering, heal wounds, maintain order, and protect it's people from attacks -- both by vigilantes and by the creatures they fail to regulate for the good of society.

Yesterday evening, we as a society were offered a choice. We could continue on this failed path with no certain end, continue to allow our families to be at risk, continue to allow bits and pieces of what makes us great, makes us unique, and makes us strong fall away in the continued fighting, or, we could choose a path to peace. What Lord Voldemort offered may not be popular, but I believe it is the only option left to protect our society. The Ministry of Magic is a dying beast, an ineffectual leader, and, lest we forget in the outcry against the vigilantes who perpetuate violence, a murderer. The Ministry of Magic murdered my father, and many other fathers, brothers, sons, and brethren. I, for one, am tired of waiting for peace to come. I will accept the peace that is offered, so that no one else will have to suffer as my family has suffered.

We have been having quite dreary weather lately, and though it is typical of this time of year, I of course think that it is merely coinciding with my mood. Isn't it odd that as humans we place personal significance on cosmic events, as if the world is molding itself to our needs? How arrogant we are, as a species.

No longer mourn for me when I am dead
Then you shall hear the surly sullen bell
Give warning to the world that I am fled
From this vile world, with vilest worms to dwell:
Nay, if you read this line, remember not
The hand that writ it; for I love you so
That I in your sweet thoughts would be forgot
If thinking on me then should make you woe.
O, if, I say, you look upon this verse
When I perhaps compounded am with clay,
Do not so much as my poor name rehearse.
But let your love even with my life decay,
Lest the wise world should look into your moan
And mock you with me after I am gone.

He was, if you'll forgive mixing my sources, the Noblest of Romans. All that is in my hands now is to honour his memory by doing everything I can to make the dreams he had for me and my family a reality.

Congratulations. I just screamed, and my mother came running into the room, wand drawn.

I am sorry my mood has been so unpleasant these last few weeks. Evan's death has had a more averse effect on me than I could have predicted. Mother seems to have thrown herself wholesale into wedding planning again, and I will join her to try and pull myself out of these doldrums.

July comes sooner and sooner.

Would you be free to spend the evening with me, after the full moon? I think we could perhaps both use a distraction, and I know I would do well to be out of this house for awhile.

How goes your planning, my dear?

025; a gala evening and such and such [11 Mar 2010 · 2:39am]
Warded: Regulus.

I had a lovely time Saturday evening, and you looked very handsome. I just wanted to say thank you for the donation--it was a sweet gesture, and very much appreciated. I only hope you enjoyed yourself half as much as I did.

Warded: Rabbit.

Rabbit, I have a favour to ask of you? Or more accurately, a gift to beg of you?

Warded: Bella and Narcissa.

A bit belated, but I would like to say again that your father was an absolutely lovely man, and his loss is deeply felt. If you need anything, please, you need only ask.

The gala Saturday evening was absolutely lovely, and it was good to see appreciation for our beautiful and rich heritage and history. I found Mr. Nott's speech to be particularly enlightening, and truly enjoyed being able to see some of the texts up close. I commend the restoration staff on all of their hard work and effort.
